Discover UNESCO heritage on two wheels
Poreč and the hinterland are ideal for biking. The terrain is not too flat nor too hilly, it meets every cyclist’s wishes for an interesting trip. The tour starts with a brief guided tour of Poreč with the highlight of the town, the Euphrasian Basilica from the 6th century, listed on the UNESCO Heritage List. Poreč is also the starting point of the legendary old railway route “Parenzana”. The railway is gone, but we still have the road which runs from Poreč through the Istrian inland to Trieste in Italy. A beautiful symbol of friendship between the three countries and their people. From Poreč, we will follow the seaside till we reach the areas north of town with a vast land of olive groves. From there, we will turn towards the inland. The typical farming area where a mix of vineyards and wild herbs are grooving along the road will spice up the experience. We will make a stop at an interesting place, Baredine Cave. Here we will have time for a refreshment, and if you are curious to visit the cave, you will have a chance to do so. We will take you through villages and forest trails back to Poreč. (DISTANCE: 25 km. DURATION: 4-5 hours)
