Pula the Roman Capital of Istria and romantic Rovinj
The Istrian west coast is dominated by the towns, Pula and Rovinj, both a must-see when visiting Istria. Roman history and the Hapsburg period are carved into every stone of Pula just as the Venetian empire has left its imprint in the colourful facades of Rovinj. Both towns carry their part of the history of Istria, and fortunately, we can still find traces of the historical splendour all mixed up with modern everyday life.

Day 1
Pula and Rovinj
pinPula | Croatia
The visit starts in Pula – the Roman Capital of Istria. Our first stop is the Roman amphitheatre build during emperor Vespasian used for gladiator fights, still standing after 2000 years. In the summertime, you can enjoy open-air concerts or other cultural events. From here we take a walk through the old town bearing traces of the grandness of Pula through history, from Roman times, Habsburg period, Yugoslavia until today. We will stop by the market place where the atmosphere is vivid before noon and where will have a light lunch before we continue to Rovinj. Many visitors often claim that Rovinj is the most romantic town on the whole Adriatic coast. We will spend the afternoon exploring Rovinj, its coloured facades, tall and narrow houses rising from the sea, the narrow streets climbing to the top of the hill where you will find the parish church, St. Euphemia. After our walk, we will find a local bar to have a rest and enjoy the last moments in this beautiful town. The tour ends where it began and we hope you had a good time!
