Dragons and knights
There are many castles in Istria. Most of the hilltops in the Istrian inland were inhabited, a long time ago. Many of them developed into cities still standing there today. Castles are like fairytales, each carries an exciting story which waits for you to be told. We must admit it was a challenge to make a selection because they are all worth seeing. Our top 3 picks for you are the castles: Dvigrad, Morosini Grimani and the castle of Pazin.

Day 1
Let’s step into history!
pinCentral North Istria | Croatia
The first Castle you will visit is Dvigrad, meaning two towns. This place was originally a Roman settlement, which developed into the towns Moncastelo and Castle Parentino. Moncastelo is still used for various events. It has a beautiful view of the valley of Lim. The next stop is the Morosini Grimani Castle in Svetvinčenat known today for its medieval festival. We will take a walk in the town and feel the slow pace of living, just like time stopped. Before we visit the third jewel, the castle of Pazin, you probably need refreshment, and what is better than tasting some local wine. Close to Pazin, you will visit a family-owned winery and get to know the local grapes. In Pazin, we will visit the third castle. This central part of Istria inspired the famous author Jules Verne when he wrote his book "Mathias Sandorf". The Castle has a fantastic view on the Pazin pit and there is even a zipline you can try which takes you above it. With a little imagination, you can go back to the times when the castle was in all its glory and the ladies and knights were walking around. Well, don't mind us - we are just hopeless romantics.
